Fancy trying yoga?

Are you interested in trying yoga for the first time? Or returning after a break? Or maybe you’ve tried yoga before, but found it hard to follow? Are you a bit intimidated? Maybe you're worried that you're not flexible enough to do yoga or that you're too old, or you don't have the right kit? Or have you started doing yoga online and are thinking about venturing into a live class for the first time?

Then you are in the right place!

My relaxed and friendly beginners courses are the perfect place to start. My aim is to help you figure out if yoga is right for you. Then, if you want to continue, to help you feel confident enough to join a regular class.

Yoga Basics 5-week Course

This five-week beginners' course will focus on building confidence in key yoga poses and sequences, with adaptations to suit your body. We will also explore some different styles of yoga and delve into a little yoga philosophy. Hopefully, by the end of the course you’ll know your downward dog from your cobra, and will feel confident enough to join a regular class.

FAQs

Should I do the in-person or online course?

You can do either or both. Both the in-person and online course cover the same content. I think there is a magic to being together in a room, but I'm also realistic. I know that the class time might not suit, or that you might not feel confident enough yet. If so then online is perfect for you! Or you might have signed up for the in-person course and want watch the videos to recap something or practice a bit more between classes.

Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?

Definitely not! Yoga is about so much more than what you've seen in magazines. And to be healthy what's important is strength and mobility, not whether you can touch your toes. Hopefully yoga can help make you stronger and improve your mobility, but as long as you are breathing then you are doing it right.

Do I need to buy a yoga mat or other kit?

Please bring a yoga or exercise mat to the in-person class if you can. Let me know if you need to borrow one as I have a couple of spares. For the at-home course I'd suggest you get some kind of yoga or exercise mat to practice on. Other equipment you can borrow or find around your home. And you can wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

I can't sit/kneel/lie on the floor?

Don't worry! We start sitting in chairs, and chairs are always available along with other props like block and blankets which can help you get comfortable. You can even do the entire course from a chair!
